Today, the New York Times published a slideshow of a vibrant, cultural and historic neighborhood whose energy and unique flavor is often overlooked when focusing on the many challenges the area faces. This neighborhood-East Harlem- should not be defined as an amalgam of its deficits. Its streets are alive and gritty, punctuated with music and languages, and with colorful murals that offer us a glimpse of its history.
